While so many women of color (WOC) in history inspire me, I'm also inspired by WOC of my generation. Therefore I thought I would run a sub-category on 'She Inspires' for WOC millennials. It only makes sense, given I began my first blog post with a feature on Issa Rae's memoir .
First up on the list for the 'She Inspires (millennial edition)' is natural hair vlogger/blogger, podcaster, speaker, lifestyle, fitness motivator, and entrepreneur Jenell B. Stewart. The Liberian-American wife and mother of two holds a master's in Special Education and began her public career on Youtube and by creating the KinkyCurlyCoilyMe, to track her natural hair journey. Today the platform serves as a natural hair care community inspiring women to embrace their natural hair and beauty within. The 32-year-old is also a brand ambassador for some of the biggest natural hair care lines including SheaMoisture, CURLS, Alikay Naturals.
Jenell, husband, and children have transitioned to a vegan lifestyle which she shares on various platforms. I'm inspired by Jenell because she is among the millennial entrepreneurs who built a brand by being authentic, open, and creating relatable, useful, content. Not to mention, she's Liberian (wink)!
After the birth of her daughter in 2014, Jenell documented her weight loss journey where she reached a goal of shedding over 100 lbs!

Whatever your opinion might be of her, you can't deny that she pioneered celebrity coverage of the hip-hop community way before hip-hop became a mainstream genre of music.
